IPv4 address space is insufficient, and IPv6 has been developed by the IETF as its successor. IPv6 recently passed a significant milestone in global IPv6 deployment: the percentage of users reaching Google services over IPv6 crossed the 2% threshold, and the pace of use seems to be accelerating.
